Trying New Things: Falafel Inc.

Last week, a colleague of ours came into the office raving about their lunch. They had just come back from the newly-opened Falafel Inc. on King Street. Since I hadn’t had falafel before, it was a great first introduction!

Old Town’s Falafel Inc. is located at 724 King Street, where previously Nice Cream ice cream shop occupied until they closed last fall. Now, Falafel Inc. has recently opened in its place, offering fast-casual, authentic, and vegetarian falafel, sandwiches, and bowls. What originally caught our interest was the fact that nothing on their menu is more than six dollars! I couldn’t think of another easy and quick lunch option that was this affordable.

Falafel Inc. is more than just good for your wallet, it's also good for your health. The franchise prides itself on using locally-sourced, fresh ingredients that are made daily, to serve up their authentic falafel, hummus, bowls, and sides. “Eat for good” is the ethos behind the brand. The company also partners with the World Food Programme to deliver aid to refugees across the globe.

The menu is simple. Falafel sandwiches, bowls, and a few sides including cucumber salad, hummus, and za'atar fries. Falafel sandwiches are made with falafel, lettuce, red cabbage, pali salad, tatbili, tahini, and red sauce all on a fresh-baked pita. The bowl is more of a salad made with falafel, red cabbage, tabouli, tomato, cucumber, pickles, za’atar chips, and greens with dressing.

The franchise was voted #1 New Restaurant in Washington, D.C., and has several locations in the D.C. area including Tysons, The Wharf, and now right here on King Street. If you’re looking for a quick lunch – check out Falafel Inc.!
