Two Local Entrepreneurs You Need To Know!

As a small business, I've always appreciated opportunities to develop and grow relationships with other businesswomen. From local artists to new entrepreneurs, Boxwood has been lucky to work with so many wonderful businesses and use our platform and space to introduce them to our community. This fall, we are so excited to be collaborating with two amazing women-owned and operated businesses, Sugarcoated Bakery and Lily's Flower Truck!

We are teaming up with Sugarcoated Bakery for an upcoming collection of cookie decorating classes in anticipation of the fall and holiday season! Sugarcoated Bakery is a local, home-based bakery that has become an Alexandrian favorite, featured around town in area markets and pop-ups. Soon, Sugarcoated Bakery will be in Boxwood's class schedule rotation and provide hands-on education on cookie decorating tips and tricks. Outside of her classes and cookies, owner and baker Amalea offers a variety of goods, including decorated cakes and hot cocoa bombs. We are so excited to welcome Amalea and Sugarcoated Bakery to Boxwood.

We are also happy to announce that we are collaborating with Lily's Flower Truck again this fall! If you had a chance to see us at one of our Saturday pop-up events this summer or during the Art Walks, you might have met Lily and her adorable traveling flower truck. Full of colorful bouquets, Lily's Flower Truck is named after its mascot, owner Catherine's black labrador retriever, Lily. Visit Catherine's website to learn more about her truck and upcoming schedule!

Boxwood is looking forward to several events scheduled with both Sugarcoated Bakery and Lily's Flower Truck this fall. In October, Boxwood will sponsor the National Breast Center Foundation's Angel Wings all day on October 6 before a Shades of Pink Blooms-inspired flower workshop, where proceeds will go to the foundation in support of breast cancer awareness.

Another special event we invite you to is our Harry Potter Halloween Fest, hosted October 28 and 29, celebrating Halloween weekend with Sugarcoated Bakery and Umbrella Dry Drinks. This event will offer an opportunity to craft your own magical dragon egg and sip on zero-proof potions while enjoying a special movie screening and much more. Some class sizes are limited, so secure your seats early! Boxwoods events and class schedules can be found on our website here
