We are looking for our next Managing Editor to take over the reins here at Alexandria Stylebook. Stylebook is a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting women-owned small businesses and women leaders. We believe that lifestyle inspiration should come directly from the source: local experts who tirelessly work behind the scenes to cultivate this vibrant community we love to call home! 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop an editorial strategy and publishing plan on a quarterly and monthly basis in collaboration with small business contributors. This includes tracking and forecasting trends, understanding reader priorities, and coordinating with small business contributors by verifying requirements, and managing deadlines.

  • Organize and edit all assets and copy before final placement to ensure all campaign materials adhere to Stylebook’s creative concept and branding guidelines. This includes working with the digital manager to design and approve graphics and other media.

  • Track and report on key analytics to evaluate the success of marketing initiatives on a weekly and quarterly basis.

  • Plan community events on an annual and quarterly basis. This includes providing on-site support, coordinating invitations, building registration pages, scheduling, managing the guest list, designing marketing materials, and arranging event logistics. 

  • Liaise with the Board of Directors to ensure strategic alignment and operational effectiveness.

  • Manage and maintain relationships with small businesses and the Alexandria community.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in writing and editing with a preference for prior experience in digital marketing.

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively provide information in both written and verbal communications.

  • Incredibly detail-oriented and organized with an ability to manage multiple team members work on competing priorities and achieve daily deadlines. 

  • Comfortable working with digital tools Dropbox, Square Space, MailChimp, Canva, and social media platforms. Specific experience is not required, but you should be willing to learn and generally comfortable with working in the digital space.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, and Excel.

  • Passion for promoting local small businesses and supporting the Alexandria community. 

This is a part-time position with daily work requirements that can be scheduled flexibly. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required in conjunction with events.
