Gucci Westman Has A New Item And It's A Game Changer!

If you have tried any of Westman Atelier's products, you're probably reading this with great anticipation. This streamlined assortment hasn't had a new product since it's initial launch in Spring of 2018. Partly by design and the rest by dedication to presenting only the best, Gucci Westman has kept her line tight. She knew she wanted the products to be user-friendly, luxe and most-importantly to perform. She is not interested in creating products just for hype or sales. New launches will be few and far between so when one launches, it will be a game changer and this one definitely is.

A few weeks ago the line called to tell me they were sending me a super secret new product to try. I wasn't allowed to show it to anyone or to post anything about it on social media. The item was even being sent to my home and not the store. This was serious folks. The item was supposed to launch in the Spring, but Gucci kept sending it back to production until she was completely satisfied. I was thrilled when they told me it was a mascara, but I was also really nervous. I have been so immensely impressed with all of Gucci's products that I couldn't imagine she'd launch a mascara. Why, you ask? Because mascara is a very difficult product to do well and to appeal to everyone. Add keeping the formula clean and now you have a really steep uphill battle. I have never been impressed with any clean mascara I've tried. Heck, I'm not impressed by most regular mascaras I've tried.

I opened the box and was immediately struck by how lovely the tube was. A sleek gold tube with a matte black cap. Gorgeous. But it was Westman Atelier, that wasn't surprising. The brush is fat and fluffy. I normally like a tapered spiky brush for separation. Would I like it? I applied it to my top lashes and bottom lashes in one coat and ran out the door. I caught sight of myself an hour later and saw some smudging underneath my eyes. Oh no, that's not good. It also seemed like my lashes were a little anemic. To be fair, I had applied a face oil that morning and I hadn't set my concealer with my under-eye setting powder because I was rushed. I also only applied one quick coat. I hadn't spent much time and I didn't apply a second coat. I'd try again the next day.

The second application, I took my time. I curled my lashes first. I then started applying the mascara at the base of my lashes and wiggled up working from the outer corner to the inner corner. I noticed that the formula stayed wet enough for me to work with it without being so wet that it clumped my lashes together. I also realized that I really work my lashes and work my mascara. I sweep my mascara wand up in the same outer corners three or four times before I move my way to the middle and then inner corner doing the same thing the whole time. Then I start the process all again. This mascara lets me do that. Despite the full round brush, I had no problem with separating my lashes. It builds really well and it provides fullness and length which is not easy to do. It also stays put all day. I absolutely love it. Westman Atelier has done it again.

As you can imagine, I expect this mascara to fly out the door. It will be in store the week of August 26th and we are taking pre-orders now. Call us to reserve yours.
