What I'm Loving Now

You may think that because I own the store, I can have whatever I want in it. As my fellow store owners can attest, that is simply not the case. The truth is that when we order certain quantities for our stores, we have to let you (the customer) have the first shot at sizes and quantities. For myself, I may not know how much I like something until it arrives. Then I realize that I only have 3 or 6 of an item and I can't steal (of course this still means buy) one from the shelves until I feel certain that I have enough stock to justify it. Sometimes that means waiting until another large order is necessary. In the meantime, I agonize over wanting these things. Here are the things I want right now.  SOH St. Nicholas Candle and SOH Hazel candle $70 each. These candles are simply the best candles I've burned in years. Period. I've tested a ton of candles this year and as far as scent throw, sophistication, burn quality, and packaging are concerned...they are unmatched. There's nothing quite like a beautiful pine scented candle during the winter months. I want this one so bad, but half sold in the first week and I can't risk baring the shelf just yet. The other is the Hazel candle which Elizabeth Todd summed up perfectly, "smells like a fancy hotel." Yes. That is it. It smells like the amazing boutique hotel I stayed in in Italy. Of course, that only made me want it more...also a big seller. I've been good, but I may break down on Monday and buy these if they're still there.  Westman Atelier Mascara $62. The tube I received from the company in June has finally finished. I need another one. This is the best mascara I've used in the twenty years I've had the store. The issue is that every time I order it, it sells out immediately. As I am writing this, we are sold out. I have ordered again and upped the quantity. I am now on my very own call list to make sure I don't miss out on this next order.  La Bouche Rouge Lipstick Refill in Baume Peche and Pop Art Red $41 each. I did buy myself a leather case from this line. What I didn't know was which colors I would want. Baume Peche is a lip stain. It lightly colors your lips the perfect color of pink with a single application. If you layer a second one it deepens and so on. The color lasts and I can apply a lip balm or gloss later on if I want some added shine. Pop Art Red is just a perfect classic red that has a semi matte finish. It stays on for hours and doesn't look dry like a lot of liquid lipsticks can tend to. As the line is shipped directly from France, I can't deplete stock on the first shipment. Can I?  Rodin Olio Lusso Lip Oil in Heavenly Hopp $35. These lip oils sold out in every color before I could say the words "lip oil." I didn't get a single one. This time I'm making sure I get one before they hit the drawer.  Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray Purse Size $22. Gone as soon as it arrived. Clearly I underestimated the number of you carrying this around. Tripled the next order so I get one.  Zelens Power A Drops $195. Now people, this one makes me feel like the cobbler who had no shoes. This line is another one that comes from overseas and there always seems to be a tight shipment to the distributor. As a result, by the time it arrives the list of people waiting for it depletes the stock before it hits the shelf. However, as Barneys was the only major U.S. distributor, (and therefore competitor for stock) I'm hopeful that we'll have better stock going forward. Good thing too because I'm not gonna lie, I've been living off the last legs of the tester and it's almost finished. Desperate times.
