What’s Your 4th Of July Tradition?
I have such sweet memories of 4th of July weekends spent with my family here in our Nation’s Capital. We’d pack up our picnic baskets filled with cold drinks and summer snacks, grab a few blankets and chairs and head down to the National Mall, all dressed in our best red, white, and blue attire. It was our family tradition. One I always look forward to revisiting each July. Although there are some spots in Alexandria that have views of the Washington, D.C. fireworks, there’s nothing that compares to sitting under the booming and bright display, with the monuments and Capitol serving as the most fitting backdrop.
When July approaches and our streets are decorated with American flags, I am always reminded of those 4th of July memories our family has made together over the years. I hope my children cherish these memories as much as I have. Although a simple family tradition, watching the fireworks on the mall will always be one of my favorites!
Last week we had our talented merchandiser, Mickey Sauls of Shop md, visit the shop to create an inspiring and patriotic table display using some of our favorite red, white, and blue settings. I love how she mixed patterns from the Hester & Cook Placemats using the nautical and summertime themes with the Caspari red, white and blue napkins. Our acrylic blue and white tumblers and wine glasses from Italian designer Mario Luca stand out against the Thomas Paul lobster and nautical trays. Of course, a Boxwood tablescape wouldn’t be complete without our favorite cordless lamps, available in red, white, or blue from Zafferano.
We’ll see you in-store this week to inspire your own summertime entertainment! Happy 4th of July!
