Why Our Designers Love Alexandria Lighting & Design (And You Should Too!)

If you drive past the new Alexandria Lighting & Design showroom, you will notice two things – how large the new space is and all of the fantastic light fixtures you can see through the window. I couldn’t wait to check it out, so when Alexandria Lighting & Design joined Alexandria Stylebook, I knew we had to collaborate.

I reached out to Teddy Kim, President of Alexandria Lighting & Design, and scheduled a full tour for the Marks-Woods design team. We were blown away by the experience! From the second you walk in, you are greeted by the rich aromas of expertly brewed Compass Coffee and freshly baked bagels from Chewish Deli. The cafe is open to everyone, but was created for fellow designers, contractors, and architects to sit and meet with their clients. We could absolutely see ourselves meeting clients there for a fresh cup of coffee and a warm chocolate chip cookie.

Brian Newton, an account specialist who has been working at Alexandria Lighting & Design for over 13 years, joined Teddy to give us a tour of the space. Needless to say, Teddy and Brian knew their stuff! Nearly two hours later, we gained so much knowledge from our two expert tour guides. The options were endless and my design team was over the moon to learn about the new companies and fixtures we could start suggesting to clients.

For example, did you know Travis Barker worked with Buster and Punch to develop metal-inspired lighting? We didn’t – but Teddy and Brian did! Or, did you know that Varaluz is making light fixtures out of 100 percent eco-friendly materials? We are definitely going to include those in some upcoming designs.

While our designers were inspired by many of the different fixtures, here are a few that really stood out:

Michaela Sedlak, Interior Designer

“I like this pendant light from Hinkley in black.  The milk glass with the exposed cage gives a beautiful, mid-century feel. I could see this in a powder room, above a double vanity in a primary suite, or over a kitchen island.”

Megan Bell, Interior Designer

“I absolutely love the champagne acrylic chandelier in antique brass from Eichholtz. It has a nice Art Deco feel that could work over a small dining table or in a foyer.”

Danielle Steele, Lead Designer

“I love this six light ceiling mount by Crystorama. It’s so stylish and chic. It’s perfect for an entry foyer or a small powder room where sconces aren’t possible. I also love this sconce from Kichler. It would be great for flanking a primary bedroom suite bed or for task lighting in a library.”

I could go on and on about what we discovered and learned, but you should see for yourself! Head on over to Alexandria Lighting & Design and see what they have to offer. It will surely brighten your day!
