5 Must-Have Summer Essentials
The official start of summer is June 21, but Memorial Day is when the pools open, the beaches start to fill up, and we all start scheduling our pedicures and stocking up on sunscreen. The Shoe Hive is ready for summer and we have stocked what we consider the essentials to enjoy fun in the sun.
Shade
Nothing is worse than being outside and having to squint the entire time. You need to make sure you have your sunglasses and hats ready. We have a great, new, inexpensive line at The Hive, Le Specs, with the latest trends. Another brand, Krewe, also continues to deliver unique styles. You just can’t only keep the shade off your eyes, you need it off your face, too, so come in and see our selection of hats from Rag & Bone, Hat Attack, Helen Kaminski, and our latest addition, Yosuzi.
Slides
It is finally time to unpack the sandals and get your toes ready. It seemed like it would never happen this year but I think it is safe to say you can put away your winter shoes. This summer’s go-to trend, athletic slides, came in every color. They are so much more comfortable than a traditional flip flop -- your feet will thank you.
Swim
We won’t ever carry swimsuits, but we do have all the accessories, from cute cover-ups that will take you from the pool to lunch, bags that you will want to carry everywhere, and pool accessories that will help you float in style.
Skeem
I am particularly sweet so bugs love me. When I am sitting outside, if there is only one mosquito in a 50 mile radius, it will find me and attack. The problem is, who really likes the smell of citronella? Skeem has solved this dilemma by creating a line of candles, incense, and body spray that smell like sea salt, grapefruit, or eucalyptus. The packaging is still sleek enough that you will want to use them inside or out.
S’well
I know, I know - I can’t stop talking about S’well this year, but I am just so excited about the new shapes and sizes. If you are headed out for a long day in the sun, the new roamer is big enough to hydrate you throughout the day. If you happen to be cocktailing outdoors, the tumblers will make sure your margarita doesn’t get watered down, which is a healthier alternative than the time-tested method of merely drinking faster!
