A Trunk Show With the Brand That Helped Build The Shoe Hive: AGL
If I had to give credit to one brand for helping build The Shoe Hive, it would be Attilio Giusti Leombruni, now known as AGL. Most of the brands we opened the doors with no longer exist, or have changed hands and therefore changed what they are as a brand. This is not the case with AGL.Started in the 1950s, it is now a third-generation company run by three sisters: Sara, Vera, and Marianna. They have kept the tradition and artistry that put them on the map, but evolved the designs to make them a sought-after fashion brand. The thing that attracted us to AGL originally, back on our very first buying trip in 2003, before they were in any American department stores to my knowledge, was the supple, even cozy, fit. For anyone who has comfort issues with shoes but still, rightly, insists on elegant style, I point them in one direction – to AGL.So what, specifically, makes AGL shoes so comfortable, especially the flats? It is the Sacchetto construction, which actually means “to fit like a glove.” The insole of the shoe is stitched directly to the upper, creating slipper-like comfort and eliminating raw edges from the inside seams. On top of this different construction, they are all made by hand in Italy -- even in an era in which production of other lines is migrating to cheaper locales -- and all AGL shoes have extra padding for comfort.

So last month when our representative from AGL asked why I had never responded to an email about hosting a trunk show I was speechless. Clearly I had overlooked this correspondence and would be a total ding dong to not jump at the chance to host a trunk show with my favorite brand. So here is how it will work: starting Friday, March 29 through Sunday, March 31, all AGL will be 20 percent off. Brianne, our AGL representative from New York, is bringing samples of all the shoes in the graphic below and we can special order them for you. You can try on our inventory to figure out the best fit.If you have never bought an AGL shoe, this is your chance. I could literally clear our my closet and only wear AGL and never be at a loss for what to wear. My feet would also thank me.So stop in, and Brianne will help you find the perfect fit, which won’t be difficult.
