AGL Trunk Show: It's Time to Put Shoes on Again!

This month is Women’s History Month, so it is only fitting that we have three big events with some of our favorite female designers. The first one is not just one female business owner, it is actually a company owned and run by three women: the sisters of AGL. I have written about this dynamic trio many times before and I had the pleasure of seeing their factory in Italy up close and in person in the pre-Covid era. Vera is the head of marketing and communication, Sara is the sales manager, and Marianna is the designer. This has been a family-run business for three generations now: first their grandfather, then their father, and now these amazing women. The Shoe Hive was one of AGL’s earliest adopters in the States and I am so proud we are one of their longest running American relationships. Successful businesses are built on successful partnerships and we certainly have one with AGL.

When I called Brianne to find out if she was still able to do a trunk show this year, I was thrilled when she said yes. I remember last year Brianne was headed down from NYC and it was the first time I really started to get what was happening with the virus. Most of Italy had already been shut down and we weren’t sure what to do. It was for sure unchartered territory. The factory in Italy was days away from closing and we didn’t know what we could pull off. I was already worried about AGL and the artisan shoe industry in Italy, was beginning to be terrified of what was down the road for my own business, and wanted to follow through with our event. So, we forged ahead and our customers were overly patient with orders and the event ended up being a silver lining in what was a tough spring for the store. So here we are, a year later, and it is time once again for the AGL event. I called Brianne to see if we had any shot of pulling any inventory. Of course, they are amazing and we figured out how to do a trunk show. Here is how it will work. We have our inventory; we ordered some special for the event. We could only get certain sizes they had already made, so I apologize in advance if we don’t have your size. They are sending samples of lots of great styles that they have stocked in Italy. The attached look book has what sizes are available. If you need help figuring out your size, we have similar styles available for you to try on so we can help find the best size for you.  The trunk show will be Thursday, March 4 – Sunday, March 7, and, of course, we will be doing 20 percent off. Brianne and I will also be going live on Instagram to show you all the styles and talk fit and fashion. They really are the most comfortable shoes and there is just nothing else out there like it - it’s why we’ve carried them in every single one of the 18 years we’ve been in business. I love their shoes, and in fact, I have a personal wish list to fulfill after the trunk show — so I don’t take all the size 8s!Special orders will be limited (we have to order six to go into production), but we will do our best to figure something out and those will take six weeks. It’s a slightly different trunk show, but with the same amazing style and quality, I know you’ll find something that makes you happy.
