Four Timeless Summer 2024 Trends Worth the Investment

When all the fashion publications like Elle and Glamour released their summer trend round ups, we were excited to see we hit the mark at American In Paris. While trends don’t drive our purchasing decisions (I rely on my intuition and my eyes), I find that we consistently end up carrying items that are both on-trend and have the ability to be timeless (unlike fast fashion). Here are four Summer 2024 trends that we think make a good wardrobe investment—for now and forever.

GO WILD

Animal printed swimwear is having its moment and we’re here for it. From full on leopard print, to animal print with color blocking, we have an assortment of bikinis and maillots in a variety of coverage options. We’re also expecting this to carry on into fall/winter, so if you have plans for a resort getaway, consider this swimwear ROI.

BOHO, BABY

Bohemian crochets, knits, and raffia are in the spotlight - and we’re not surprised. Hand-crocheted sweaters, dresses, and wraps are perfect for summer destinations that see cooler evenings, dinners by the sea, or more formal occasions that may require something light to wrap over the shoulders. We carry hand-made macrame and crochet from a Bolivian maker, Stella Torres. I styled her wrap with a caftan for my Stylebook Street Style shoot — it’s one of my most-packed items for any trip! You never know when you might need a layer and this macrame shawl can be dressed up or casually draped. I also love the straw hats we’re seeing, we have a few in the shop from our friends at Mola. This black one was created exclusively for us and features a crystal embellishment.

PAJAMAS (AT THE POOL) PARTY

WELL, if we’re not the biggest fans of a leisure set!  An American In Paris staple, our leisure and resort sets are designed to be enjoyed in a plethora of ways. Summer days of lounging and relaxing inside with a good book (when it’s too hot to even think of stepping foot outside), shorts paired atop your swimsuit for a day at the pool, or, for the jet set who need something that can keep warm on the plane but also take go from tarmac to lunch table. They won’t wrinkle and they come in a variety of styles so that you can mix and match.

SMOOTH AS BUTTER

Buttery yellow? Didn’t see that coming but it turned up on quite a few runways. We love this creamy take on summer’s traditional white. Our newest American In Paris Jeanie Dress is inspired by my Brazilian friends who saunter up and down the streets of Rio in their Havaianas flip flops and side slit dresses, going from beach to bar without ever having to change. A tie-waist allows you to control the shape and cinching, while slits on both sides keep things breezy and flowing. We have several patterns (from a blue dotted to a purple pattern), our favorite is the Astro print that I’m wearing in this photo from our Grand Re-opening Party. It just screams summer solstice to me and the buttery creamy color is so flattering on a variety of skin tones.

While we love to follow the trendy moments that come off the runway each season, we also love pieces that remain timeless and can become staples in your wardrobe, waiting to be paired with vintage accessories and nostalgic classics. You know—the pieces you can't wait to pull out next year as the seasons change. American In Paris is open every day and our inventory is refreshed on an almost-weekly basis. Come stop in and find something you love.
