Amy Smilovic Is Coming To The Hive!

If you could see my face as I type this post, you would understand how truly excited I am about what I am about to announce. Okay, I let the cat out of the bag a few weeks ago when I put out our list of events for the fall, and it got noticed. I realized you all really do read what I write, even the fine print. Because my phone started blowing up, and well, I think some of you share in my excitement.

So here it is: Thursday, September 22 at 10am Amy Smilovic, the Founder and Creative Director of Tibi, will be at The Hive.

All you Tibi fans and Amy fans, mark your calendar because it is going to be a great day. They are bringing Fall 2022 fundamentals and some styles from the Fall 2 drop, and we are going to have so much Tibi in-store and the name behind the brand.

If I had to only wear one brand, it would be Tibi. The clothes have an ease about them that I can relate to. I don’t like fussy, and I want pieces that can work in all different parts of my life. Really I just want clothes that work for my life. Like most people I know, I don’t do one single thing in one day. Life is work, school functions, charity events, lunch or drinks with friends, sitting on the sidelines, and trudging through the grocery store. Often most of these things can happen in one day. Tibi has the clothes that work for all these things without looking overdressed at a baseball game or underdressed at dinner.

Amy calls this concept Play, Dinner, Work. Or, if you are part of the Tibi cult (of which I am a card-carrying member), it is called PDW. This is one of the many terms in what she has named her Tibictionary - a guide to words frequently mentioned in her Style Classes on Tibi’s Instagram live feed. If you are someone looking to find your “style” or if you have ever put on an outfit and not been able to figure out why it didn’t quite work, you will find the answers here.

Next week we will explore more concepts of the Tibictionary to help you get ready for this event. Because now you will have a chance to ask Amy herself.

I have to give a little sidebar about why she is so wonderful besides her clothing. She truly is a champion for the little guys in retail; you won’t find her clothes at the big department stores. Amy believes in stores like mine, which is what makes her company and the people who work with her so amazing. They love clothes, they love helping people feel comfortable and confident in their clothes, and they love making sure independent boutiques like The Hive keep their doors open.

Stop by and meet Amy on Thursday, but if you can’t make it to meet Amy stop in Friday through Sunday to shop the trunk show. You won’t want to miss out on this great selection, and we will make sure we do our best to show you have to make these Tibi styles work for you. I will be there for the entire show, Thursday through Sunday, so come say hi and see why Tibi is my favorite.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
