Are You Bold Enough For A Black Kitchen?

Today is the perfect day to reveal two of our latest projects – black kitchens! That’s right – this Black Friday, we are excited to show you the before and afters of two kitchens that took a risk and went bold with their design choices. We are seeing this trend more often and are always excited when clients are ready to take the plunge and make their kitchen really stand out!

Black, Bold And Oh, So Glam

Our first kitchen was inspired by the homeowner’s love for rich colors. You’ll see that the “before” space was simply “blah.” It was closed off, dated, and not made for entertaining. To fix this, we expanded the space to the back of their house and created a kitchen that features a large, eat-in island, extensive storage, and even a stove with custom brass feet. The high sheen of the polished brass hardware contrasts well against the matte black finish on the cabinets.

Open Spaces, Dark Finishes

Unlike the first project, this homeowner had a pretty open kitchen. The only problem was, it didn’t work for their busy family. They wanted something with more storage that flowed easily into the main living area and felt light, bright, and bold. Instead of adding on square footage via an addition, we simply opened up the closed-off kitchen into the formal dining room, and leveled the sunken living room to make one cohesive space.  We then chose black cabinetry for the perimeter walls and offset that with a natural wood for the island and flooring. The whole kitchen was tied together with a marbled backsplash and open shelving.
