Back to School, Teacher Edition

Teachers are a big part of our lives…if they aren’t teaching your children now they have taught us all at some point during our formative years. Their uniform is simple: comfortable and stylish, plus can withstand glue, paint, pen, and sticky hands. Here are three of Alexandria City Public Schools' finest in their Kiskadee picks!

Ava

Ava is wearing a CP Shades corduroy tunic and Spanx black leggings.

This fall, I am student teaching in a Kindergarten classroom at Maury Elementary. Since full-time teaching is new to me, I have thought a lot about my wardrobe choices. While working with the students, I want to be at ease in my clothes, but also fashionable and sharp. And, since I am working with little ones, I need a comfortable outfit that is easy to move in and captures my personality, too. With much excitement for this school year, I am thankful to Maury Elementary for allowing me to complete my practicum at their school and the opportunity to be in the classroom with my cooperating teacher.

Kristy

Kristy is wearing DL 1961 jeans, an Ost sweater and Dolce Vita black booties.

As an elementary school teacher, I’m on my feet all day and prefer to wear comfortable clothing. My day also starts very early so I also like to wear clothes that are easy to prepare, as well as mix and match, because every minute counts in the morning. Finally, teaching can at times be “messy” with markers, paint, glue, occasionally spilled coffee, etc. Therefore, clothing that is stylish yet durable to stains is also very helpful. My favorite school outfits are simple dresses, leggings, and skirts with easy-to-match tops.

Jordan

Jordan is wearing a Johnny Was tunic, DL 1961 jeans, and Dolce Vita black booties.

I am a first grade teacher, which means I have to be able to walk, dance, and hop around, clean up lunchbox emergencies, and sit cross legged on the floor for a good portion of the day, BUT I still like to look cute! I try to keep my basic wardrobe simple and versatile so that my pieces can transfer easily to weekend wear. Then I typically opt for a few fun yet flow-y tops and dresses with colorful patterns and textural details to keep it fresh for the firsties.
