The Four Best Engagement Photo Locations in Old Town

She said yes and we officially can’t get enough of wedding season! Our amazing Maria got engaged this past month and we can’t stop celebrating. For now, it's all about being in the moment, sharing the news with loved ones, and taking some selfies. But what about when it’s time to take those romantic, formal engagement photos? Luckily, we live in one of the most beautiful cities with picturesque, photo-ready backdrops waiting around every corner. Here are four Old Town locations to get that one-of-a-kind shot.

Maria and Jonathon got engaged this past Memorial Day weekend

Captain’s Row

Are you and your beau history buffs? Captain’s Row cobblestone streets serve as a charming reminder of Old Town’s incredible history. Trees and historic row houses symmetrically line the road and you suddenly feel like you’re transported to centuries past. The best part? The entire character of this street changes with the seasons. The tree canopy blazes with warm colors in the fall and cotton candy cherry blossom hues in the spring. This street has been the centerpiece of many a post on Instagram, but every shot is beautiful and unique.

Carlyle House Garden

Looking for history with a little vintage style? Carlyle House Garden is the perfect backdrop, complete with immaculate flower beds and a whimsical gazebo. A periwinkle door, spring daffodils and summer boxwoods all add to the sweet secret garden allure. Another bonus? It’s located in the heart of Old Town. We don’t know about you, but we’d be pretty hungry after a photo shoot session. Skip on over one block to King Street’s top eateries!

Waterfront Parks

Sittin’ on the dock with your bae more your style? All of Old Town’s waterfront parks are perfect for that nautical couple. From Oronoco Bay to Jones Point Park, there is plenty of green space to strike a pose. Furry friends always add to an engagement shoot and these pet-friendly locations are perfect for them to tag along! Ford’s Landing Park is magical at sunset and offers glistening Capitol dome views. Waterfront Park is a quintessential postcard with its wooden docks, classic sailboats, and Adirondack chairs.

Favorite Finds

If you truly want that special photo with your forever person then sometimes it’s simply best to snap at your favorite spot. It might be where you met, it might be that greasy-spoon brunch diner, it might be at your friendly dog park, and it might be in front of that historic home with that beautiful pink gate and swoon-worthy garden (seriously, how do they keep those hedges so pristine?!). Wherever you choose, the best way to make sure you capture this magical time isn’t though expensive cameras or bright lighting. The best way is to simply be you, have some genuine fun (with maybe a little bubbly) and enjoy every second of this incredible chapter of your life!
