Get To Know Cindy, Our Chalk Paint Authority
When you visit Boxwood, you may have noticed our wall of paints and colorful works-in-progress laid out at the back of the shop. You also may have met Cindy, the heartbeat of our workshops and passion projects that use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!
Cindy has worked at Boxwood for four years, and this job is her first foray into retail. What started as an opportunity to bring her beloved Lab, Hudson, to work, soon blossomed into a love for chalk painting. Cindy has become an enthusiast and considers Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to be the epitome of excellence in the market. She’s dedicated to mastering the craft and has inspired countless customers to embrace their inner artist too. Cindy shares, “I really didn’t know how much of a creative side or interest I had until I started working at Boxwood.”
Trial and error, YouTube videos, and after-hours painting sessions have helped us both refine our skills. Cindy believes chalk painting can even be therapeutic, if approached with the right attitude. “You just have to go with the flow and not expect complete perfection,” she suggests. Her creativity and genuine love for her job make Cindy a dynamic presence, enriching the Boxwood experience for everyone.
Cindy also leads our hands-on Annie Sloan Chalk Paint workshops, which, in her words, “are a great way to learn how to refurbish an old piece of furniture.” Our 101 class covers popular finishes and techniques. Afterwards, participants can put their new skills to practice at home. For our Bring Your Own Piece class, participants arrive with a small piece of furniture in need of a makeover and walk away with a masterpiece. It’s is a fun day of painting at Boxwood and meeting new friends – while completing a project quickly.
