Bump? No Bump? We Got You Covered!

Dressing for pregnancy has been one of the toughest things I’ve ever experienced. Talk about staying up late at night and worrying about what I would fit into the next day -- it is a constant and total first-world problem. When you look at your life-long collection of items (I call that my then-closet) and nothing, I mean nothing works for you, it can send you into a panic, especially when clothes and shoes are your main passion! Thankfully I have had a handful of resources that have gotten me through this wild and beautiful thing we call pregnancy (shout out to 529’s maternity section, The Shoe Hive, and The Hive!).Penelope and I got talking and we realized there are lots of pieces at The Hive and The Shoe Hive that I can pull off now, and will still work for me after baby Ruby comes. I’m not going to lie, I felt alive and energized being able to make non-maternity clothes work for my pregnant body. While we searched the racks, I realized there were a lot of options for all our pregnant mamas at The Hive. Investing in clothes that work now and later not only maximizes your cost-per-wear, but also brings back a sense of normalcy. Who thought the word normal could be in the same sentence as pregnancy?!We thought we would show you four looks that use the same accent piece, each styled slightly differently to accommodate our different body types and lifestyles. This wrap dress by Emerson Fry was a no brainer. Wrap dresses are extremely versatile, always flattering by highlighting a waistline, and can adjust in size since the waist sashes are always long in length. You’ll notice that we didn’t skimp on the heel height for me. Both Penelope and I are wearing Marion Parke heels, me the Leah and Penelope the Bernadette. This designer uses orthotic-grade material, arch support, and counter arch support in all their designs, so no matter the heel height, these shoes are comfortable and gorgeous! (And don't forget about our Marion Parke trunk show going on now!)

Both of us are wearing the Alicia Alpaca Amazing Cape. This cape is flattering and comfortable on everyone. You’ll notice we used a belt on the cape on me to highlight my waist and adorable (Penelope's word!) belly, while she is wearing it open. We are both wearing boots, and yet again I am in a higher heel. These Aquatalia boots are not only comfortable for while I'm carrying, but these boots are also water resistant. They will transition into the perfect “chasing baby Ruby boot,” while maintaining elevated style choices. Penelope went with Stuart Weitzman's classic 5050 over-the-knee boot purely based on personal style choices.

This Rag & Bone Sweatshirt “Dress” is all about comfort! Wear it as a dress or as an oversized sweatshirt. To accommodate my ever-growing bump, I opted to wear leggings with the dress. Penelope, not having a baby bump to contend with, wore it as the dress. We each paired this look with a fun, comfortable, and stylish sneaker – Penelope wearing Golden Goose and me in Vince. Each of us is comfortable and dressed to be on the go!

This Emerson Frye Sweater is naturally over-sized, making it perfect for a growing belly and an effortless layered look. I took this look casual with really comfortable, stretchy leggings and an adorable Donni Charm headscarf. Penelope dressed up the sweater by wearing it over the most amazing Veronica Beard leather leggings and pairing it with the Veronica Beard Leopard heels.
