Celebration on South Royal Street: Holiday Block Party
We couldn’t be more excited to share what’s in store for Small Business Saturday on South Royal Street. So, mark your calendars for November 27 as the 100 block of South Royal Street will close for pedestrians to enjoy a family-friendly holiday experience while shopping locally. The Holiday Block Party is admission-free, featuring events throughout the day, beginning at 10am. Not only will merchants on South Royal Street share their holiday cheer, but the street closure will also feature other local vendors and activities.
At Boxwood, we plan to transform our tent into a festive “Holiday Market” by serving roasted chestnuts, non-alcoholic Gluhwein (spiced mulled wine,) and a children’s holiday DIY workshop featuring Annie Sloan® Chalk Paint® (pre-registration is suggested.) We will also have huge savings on our festive display of holiday ornaments!
Other festive events scheduled for the day include Firefighter Storytime and fire truck event, Storytime with Santa sponsored by The Patterson Group, a children’s book fair outside Old Town Books featuring Melissa LaSalle of whattoreadtoyourkids.com, a holiday recital by Old Town Music School, donation-based gift wrapping table, and so much more. The Holiday Block Party on South Royal Street is hosted in conjunction with Small Business Saturday in celebration of Shop Small Week sponsored by Visit Alexandria and the Old Town Business Association. We also want to give a special thanks to Ally Kirkpatrick of Old Town Books for planning and coordinating the South Royal Street festivities. Small Business Saturday is all about connecting customers with unique products and providing an opportunity to experience special events that introduce our customers to their neighbors and community.
