It's Our First-Ever Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. Do Not Miss These Margaritas.

This year Old Town Alexandria, with the help of Old Town Business Association, is hosting the first-ever Alexandria Cocktail Week. The genius behind the idea is the Queen of Old Town Cocktails, Victoria Vergason, the owner of The Hour and designer of her own barware line, The Modern Home Bar. Not only does she make sure we are all sipping our cocktails from beautiful glasses and preparing our cocktails with the appropriate barware, she also has written a great book, Capitol Cocktails. Victoria was bringing cocktails back long before the retro television shows like Mad Men made them cool again – the rest of our culture finally caught up to her!So thanks to Victoria, and her love of cocktail hour, from May 3 to May 11 more than 20 participating businesses in Old Town are hosting different in-store events, including specialty drinks and tastings, and restaurants will have specialty drinks. Visit the website for a full list of activities.Since I am not one to pass up a cocktail, I decided to get in on the fun. But first I have a confession to make: I have never been to a Cinco de Mayo Party. I am not sure why the 5th of May never seems to work for me, since I really don’t need an excuse to drink margaritas, but this event seemed like a very obvious reason to make one. With the help of our friend Raquel, the manager at Stomping Ground, we are going to teach you how to make the perfect margarita. Don’t worry, we will be serving drinks the entire time, as well, along with some festive treats. So click the REGISTER HERE link below and let the party begin. And if you need help figuring out what to wear to this or any other Cinco de Mayo Party, we’ve put together some looks to help you get in the mood. So get ready Old Town, there are going to be lots of chances to raise a glass. We hope you will make sure you come join us as we raise ours.
