Giving Thanks for That Thanksgiving Table

When it comes to what to wear for the holidays, there are plenty of style tips. From casual to festive, I can bring the bling. But when setting the Thanksgiving table, it’s easy to be overwhelmed and intimidated. How do you create that special look that honors the tradition, highlights Grandma’s recipe, and reflects your personal style?At Boxwood, we’ve found three keys to the curated table...First, don’t shun paper goods. It’s no secret that young couples are ditching fine china in favor of more universal, everyday ware. For the holidays, paper has moved leaps and bounds in quality – and can really pack a punch (not to mention leave more time for football and family over dishes). Caspari, headquartered in Charlottesville, is the godmother of tablescaping. We’ve also fallen in love with the whimsical patterns from Hester & Cook out of Nashville. Either way, don’t be afraid of moving away from traditional materials.  If you’re a linen and fine china loyalist (and we appreciate the environmental benefits), you can explore other unexpected items to add layers and interest. Everything from feathers to mini picture frames and bud vases that you already have around the house can add dimension and visual appeal. For example, you can even spray paint gourds and pumpkins a high gloss black or white and mix them with more natural pears and radishes.  And last but not least, color. We’re big fans of looking beyond the traditional oranges and browns of Thanksgiving’s past.
