Daughter Styles Mother: Three Looks

As my daughter gets older, I realize she might be a little horrified by the way I dress. My sparkles, glitter, and animal prints I am sure used to be amusing. But nowadays, she might not like me to stand out so much. It would be interesting to see what she would like to actually have me wear. I am sure these opinions will change over the course, as well. Right now she is in the middle school phase of “just don’t say anything because it might be uncool.” I call this the blending in phase in which everyone wears the same thing.Given this dynamic in my house, I thought it must exist in every other daughter’s house, too. So when Mary Ives started her externship at The Hive, I tasked her with dressing her beautiful mother, Nancy. Nancy has long shopped at my stores and always looks put together. She doesn’t walk around with her hair undone or looking like she just rolled out of bed. Despite being something that is always dressed, I thought it would be fun to see how Mary Ives would style her. Would she push her into some things that maybe she wouldn’t not normally wear? Or be true to her style? Here's what Mary Ives had to say:

I have always looked up to my mom when it comes to fashion. It seems like she always knows, better than I do, what the latest trends and styles are. But because we have such a similar taste in clothes, I knew this task wouldn’t be too difficult. For my mom, I decided to go with two outfits that included jeans and a colored blouse; one I decided to match with a pair of Golden Goose for a more casual feel, and the other with a pair of Stuart Weitzman wedges. This is definitely a “go-to” look for my mom and one that I knew she could enjoy for warm summer days. Although I was positive she would love the first two looks, I knew the third and final outfit — the Veronica Beard beige suit with the graphic tee and heels — could possibly be a stretch. At first, she questioned my doings of pairing the casual shirt with the more dressed up suit, but after putting the outfit on, she loved how it looked together!
