Is Non-Surgical Hair Replacement A Solution For You?

Often, when people think of toupees or hair pieces, the really, bad ones come to mind. We’ve all seen those – a mile away. But there are better solutions, much better ones. At Salon deZEN, we recognized the need and wanted to find a solution for our clients who have experienced hair loss. After extensive training and successful trials on a few clients, we’re happy to now offer nonsurgical hair replacement, right here in Alexandria.

Non-surgical hair replacement bridges the gap between hair transplant surgery and conventional procedures. While hair transplants have gained in popularity, they don’t work for everyone. Most are done with your existing hair, so they’re not effective for those with widespread thinning and baldness. You have to have enough hair follicles in the back to fill in the front. They’re also incredibly expensive and after the procedure, many have to take medication for the remainder of their lives.

A hair replacement system uses real human hair that is customized for each individual. It has a natural look and feel, matching the shade of your existing hair. With today’s technology, it’s a comfortable fit that allows the scalp to breathe, and yes, it can be worn 24/7.

You can shower with it, shampoo and condition it, towel dry it, use hot tools on it, sleep in it, swim in it, and exercise with it. You can do everything you want to do. Just be gentle with it, and that will extend its life; we also suggest using a soft bristle brush.

This is for both men and women. In my case, when I get stressed, I get alopecia and my hair will fall out. This is a solution to fill in those spots for anyone that loses a patch of hair while it grows back. This is also a solution for those who have hair loss due to chemotherapy. It’s very customizable, we cut and shape the piece specifically for each client with highly natural results. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.

If you’re curious and have been looking for a solution, come in for a consultation. Tricia, our non-surgical hair replacement specialist, has received extensive training and has conducted trials with clients for several months to ensure success before we officially launched. And the return of our trial clients speaks for itself.

At your consultation, we’ll look at your hair, do a color match and customize as needed. It typically takes about a week on average after your initial consultation. The cost of our hair replacement pieces are $799. This does not include the cost of the initial fitting ($250-$275), and follow up appointments (typically $175).

Dependent on your hair growth/fuzz underneath, touch up appointments are typically every three to four weeks. When you come in, we will remove any of the hair fuzz that may have grown in that area, and do some exfoliation on the scalp to keep the area smooth. The first initial appointment will take about two hours to measure and cut the piece so that it blends in perfectly with your existing hair. Touch up appointments are around 45 minutes, depending on the size and length of the piece, but it basically equates to the time spent on a hair color touchup.

These hair pieces can be used as long as a year if they are maintained properly.
