Event Meets Everyday with Elie Tahari
When I walked through the Elie Tahari Booth in New York, I couldn’t believe this was the brand I had written off years ago. In my mind they had slipped into the corporate category for me, and I was no longer interested in their clean-fitting trousers and plain, tailored sheath dresses. I was barreling past the booth when feathers and beading and lace caught my eye. It was a fresh breath of feminine details, away from the tassels and fringe that seemed to be covering everything at that particular market.I stepped inside to explore these soft, pale pinks, and silvery blues...and I found this dress.Elie’s inspiration for this spring collection was birds. While the very special pieces are a little outside our normal price point, the craftsmanship and elegance of these dresses and tops are instantly visible. Starting with his fabric selection and down to the fit, this guy really knows what he is doing.Of course, there were my corporate pieces hanging in there, dutifully and reliably. But when selecting what would work for us at Kiskadee, we favored more of his specialty pieces, which felt different and stood out from the rest. You probably guess where I am going with this: how do you incorporate these special pieces into your ever-expanding wardrobe? I urge you all to get creative and try to wear your event dresses to a more casual occasion. In fact, I challenge you to try it!
