Curated with Care: Bringing Handmade Pieces to Your Home

When we opened Eries Interiors last September, our vision was clear: to create a warm, inviting space filled with original art and truly special pieces that make a house feel like home. Whether it's a set of vintage coupe glasses that reminds you of your grandmother’s Sunday suppers, or a hand thrown ceramic bowl that elevates your everyday salad—we want our items to have a story and for you to make them part of yours.

What you don’t always get to experience is the how and why behind our sourcing—and for us, that journey has evolved in the short seven months since we opened our doors.

A Shift Toward Small-Batch and Made-in-the-USA

Our buying process at the outset included a mix of original art, vintage finds, and a few go-to wholesale lines that offered a wide selection of home decor. But it took no time to discover that our hearts would be pulled toward small, U.S.-based makers. Sourcing from independent artisans and small businesses adds layers—you feel the soul in their work, the care in their process, and the intention behind each item.

The Makers

One of the best parts of this journey so far has been connecting with these people behind the scenes – there is so much talent and so much creativity, it’s intoxicating. Here are just a few of the makers we’ve added to the store:

Tulusa (Virginia): We added Tulusa’s textiles after being a part of a holiday popup with the owner and artist, Sue Henry. Sue is hands-down one of the coolest, most talented people we have ever met, and having her show-stopping hand-dyed shibori textiles in the store was an absolute no brainer.

Gary Bodker Designs (Indiana): Added more recently, Gary Bodker Designs was a standout for us at this winter’s Shoppe Object NYC. We met Gary at the show and were immediately taken by the unique designs of his hand-blown works of art. Each piece is a bit wonky, a bit different than the next, and absolutely perfect.

East Fork (North Carolina): Made in Asheville, we have had our eyes on their pottery since before we opened our doors. We love East Fork’s commitment to their community, and the craftmanship and care with which they create shines through in each piece. Their new spring Yuzu and Prune lines that we just added to the store are an absolute stunner.

Chandra Designs (Virginia): This jewelry line is our newest local—made in Alexandria—addition and is a departure from our home decor and housewares offerings. But like our other local art, we are thrilled to showcase Shivani Chandra’s gorgeous work. Her handcrafted jewelry made of sustainably sourced semi-precious stones will elevate your dinner party as much as those new Nick and Nora glasses (and our new Nick and Nora glasses are perfect, by the way).

Why This Matters

This transition to include more small, U.S.-based makers isn't just about offering more beautiful things—it is about intention. Supporting these makers means supporting creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability. It means your home gets to reflect something a little more personal, a little more layered, and, most importantly, a little more you.

What’s Next?

We’re always exploring, always discovering. This spring, we will continue to bring in more U.S.-made lines. We’re also working on bringing local makers and artists into the shop for events and workshops.

On May 3, we will host a Chandra Designs Charm Bar—create your own charm bracelets and necklaces—during The Old Town Boutique Community’s Spring Fling. Events like these provide a great opportunity for our community to connect with the incredible people behind the beautiful pieces in our store and in their homes.

Thank you for being a part of this community and for supporting our journey as we support others’. Whether you stop into Eries (101 S. St. Asaph St.) for a new set of spring bud vases, a hostess gift, or just a little inspiration—we’re so glad you’re here.

Jessica Moak
Founder & Co-owner of Eries Interiors

Jessica grew up in Homer, NY, as the second of four kids of an entrepreneurial father and a peak hostess mother. Her upbringing inspired a love for antiques and the stories they tell and taught her the importance of creating a home that everyone wants to go back to and how to host with the most. After spending eleven years working in policy in DC, she decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and open her own store. Eries is an homage to them and to home, a warm, welcoming space where history is not forgotten, more-is-always-more, and everything is just really pretty..
