Feeling L.A. in Alexandria with Ramy Brook

When I was developing my style in my mid-twenties, I used to say I mixed a little New York with a lot of L.A. The risks I took were definitely influenced by short separates and tops that concentrated on shoulders, with perhaps more attention to the back than the front. Thinking about how an outfit looks as you walk away is much more subtle than showing skin from the front. The recipe has changed over the years but the bicoastal balance is still present. Ramy Brook has a very similar equation to her silhouettes. There’s nothing more appealing to wear during the summer than pieces that are comfortable, offer bare shoulders, and reveal a reasonable amount of leg.Ramy Brook started the New York-based collection in 2010. Opening up a flagship store in Soho gave her a greater understanding of her audience, the pieces they love, and where they go in her collection. Ramy’s signature silk fabrications are typically in bright and saturated colors and influenced by the strong women she’s admired who gravitate toward timeless, elegant, and versatile clothing.May 11th through 13th, TSALT will be hosting a Ramy Brook Trunk Show. The kickoff event is Thursday evening, May 10th, where I will be helping with some of the styling along with the stellar staff at TSALT. Tamara is personally thrilled to host this particular collection as it has become a favorite go-to for her travel wardrobe. The rest of us are getting in line to purchase our first pieces from the lighthearted brand. It’s perfectly suited for vacation or staycation, bringing your wardrobe styles that will work from day to evening. There will be a variety of styles with vibrant color, as well as some more subdued navy and black for those who don’t stray far from their base. Here's a sampling of what we'll have during the event...[nemus_slider id="48334"]Sarah Marcella and I jumped outside before the rain a couple days ago to shoot some of the core pieces that have already arrived in store at TSALT from Ramy Brook. We agreed the vibe was very L.A. in the alley -- moody ;-) -- which only secured my love for the pieces I was wearing. While I’ve developed a resistance to impulse purchases after stepping in front of the camera, I’ve done the math and have decided to cull some of my past summer loves to make room for a Ramy Brook dress this summer. It’s just too easy and feels incredibly comfortable to wear. Please mark your calendars for May 10th through the 13th and join TSALT for this fun experience with discounts during the show. Maybe you have a wedding, a shower, or a graduation on your calendar to attend in the coming weeks. This could be the outfit you’ve been waiting to discover.
