First Look at Fall '18 Apiece Apart

August is all about making room for new inventory in retail. The fact of the matter is that while creating a mix of sale items and new fall inventory might seem like an environment where there is something for everyone, boutiques want to clear out as much as they can before the entire "fall story” arrives. Those first fall deliveries are often filled with lighter fabrics that can transition into fall delicately.Personally, I find the first deliveries filled with some of the best pieces of the season since they can be worn in our unpredictable climate fluctuations. If you are allergic to wool and cashmere, these deliveries often include cotton sweaters, which are also ideal for those who get too hot in the heavier knits that arrive in the later deliveries.Last week, the first fall delivery of Apiece Apart arrived at TSALT. You may remember from an earlier post that this collection is designed by two best friends, Starr Hout and Laura Cramer, with a goal to create a collection of clothing that packs easily and offers effortless ways to dress throughout their travels. They set out to make clothes that allow women to live their wildest dreams.I am a big fan of Apiece Apart. Back in February, the buying team selected these pieces with the TSALT client in mind and now it’s here hanging on the racks at TSALT. All of the conversations that occurred surrounding the decisions will be put to the test of the clientele. Will they (you) make the choices the buying team anticipates? Only time will tell, but it all starts with an initial presentation. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at Apiece Apart FW2018![nemus_slider id="51224"]Every collection has a color story. For FW18, designers Hout and Cramer are building around rust and lavender. Interestingly, both of these colors compliment a denim wardrobe quite nicely. Purchasing new pieces that will already go with the denim you have invested in makes perfect style sense. But many women have been asking me what style of denim they should be looking at for fall. One of the strengths for Apiece Apart is their pants and jumpsuits. Hout and Cramer have a denim pant that is a perfect addition to a woman’s denim wardrobe and will be arriving in one of the later deliveries.If anyone listens to me (ahem), you know I endorsed the Merida Pant earlier this spring as a must-have style, offering women a fresh shape that is flattering and not a skinny jean (ahem, ahem). I suggest taking advantage of the Merida in peony for another great buy-now-wear-now pant. I warn that you may need to size up but they will give. I wear mine loose and find them a mainstay in my summer wardrobe now over white denim. The first jumpsuit from Apiece Apart has arrived in this July delivery. It’s the Archer Front Zip which is bra friendly with a halter or strapless bra. The "peony" color is ideal for showing off some summer color! It’s a great buy-now-wear-now item that can transition into fall with the addition of a denim jacket and sneakers. Separates are extremely valuable in a wardrobe. The beauty of these two items is that when the blouse and the skirt are purchased together they create a dress. Then you can break them apart, for example pairing the skirt with the blouse below, to work harder in your closet than a dress would. Take that little thread to the bank and you’ll get your cost-per-wear every time! As I mentioned, cotton knits are often found in these early deliveries. It might be hard to make a decision on purchasing a sweater, but if you are vacationing in Maine, Northern California, or Canada anytime soon, the Merel sweater would be super cute with those wide-leg Meridas, and the Sterre crewneck would work with a variety of denim styles.While you are taking advantage of the summer sales, take a moment to try on a few of the pieces I’ve mentioned from Apiece Apart. The collection has clean lines, graphic silhouettes, and truly impeccable tailoring. They have an incredible way of balancing the simple with the sophisticated to the degree that it's making quite an impression on this stylist!
