Football Fits: Keeping It Casual

After a lifetime of dislike, I have started to understand Pittsburgh Steelers fans much more over the last two years. Cheering for a winning team makes watching football (or any sport) much more fun. You have high expectations when you are a lifelong fan of a team like the Steelers that wins most of the time (until recent years).

As a long-suffering Cincinnati Bengals fan, this is a new experience.

When you are a fan of a team like the Bengals, Detroit Lions, or the Cleveland Browns, you are historically happy if you just beat your rivals during the season. Eight teams in the NFL have never won a Super Bowl, and the Bengals are, unfortunately, one of them.

I never expected to get there again until “my Joe” arrived. Here we are in the AFC Championship Game again, and we don’t know what to do with ourselves. I am worried I might become an entitled fan like those in the Steeler Nation.

None of this has anything to do with my Football Fits post besides apologizing for my exuberance to my team. Or, maybe, to tell my fellow fans that have membership in the “Will My Team Ever Be Good? Club” to stay strong. It can happen! Or, maybe it’s just that I am willing to take any opportunity to write about the Bengals.

As I write this, we don’t know which teams will make it to the big show. But I can tell you that I will be wearing a Bengals sweatshirt most days leading up to the AFC Championship Game.

This week’s fits are all about casual looks.

When you are on that private jet, you want to be comfortable. You also want to look cool when you walk down those steps or into the stadium. So, these players take athleisure to the next level. We aren’t talking sloppy shirts and sweats. We are talking about matching tracksuits with the coolest sneakers around. We’re talking lots and lots of “shackets,” layers, and accessories.

Courtney didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so she also joined Megan on this shoot. Once again, we hit it out of the park with Ali and Alicia styling and Igda behind the lens. We could have done so many more outfits! We have new Varley and Tibi fundamentals that fit the elevated-casual category. Stop in and check out our fits. We have so many new pieces arriving each day.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
