Giddy Up! Western Wear Rides into Town

Are you ready to saddle up and head west for the fall? Designers flooded the runways with western-inspired and cowboy-style characteristics for Fall 2018 and we are totally okay with it. Or at least, I am! Paying homage to my home state, Veronica Beard’s collection was heavily inspired by the show Dallas, and it turns out, I learned while I was merchandising the store, Elizabeth was, too.I started pulling some items and envisioned a western post immediately, with Penelope modeling on a horse, of course, but then I thought better of it and wanted to add an element of sophistication and wearability for us Alexandrians. (We are clearly not in the wild, wild west!) I pulled inspiration from street style bloggers and the runway so we all could envision the western influence in our everyday lives, sans horses.I love to embrace trends by adding a few pieces to my already existing wardrobe, and by the brisk pace with which they’ve moved out of the store, I know many of you do, too. I’m prone to do things like: add a suede jacket with a front-tie blouse; put a flat-brimmed, beaded hat with a bold, colored dress; do a modern take on classic cowboy boots; couple leather leggings with an oversized sweater; and, pair distressed denim with graphic tees. Those are a few of the treasures I found to pull some looks together. While I styled an outfit one way, you could easily mix and match with any of the other items.

Co-Owner | Mint Condition and Mint Collective

Katie Coslov bought Mint Condition with her sister-in-law Megan Podolsky in August of 2019. Previously Katie was the Director of Operations at The Shoe Hive and had fallen in love with Old Town’s charming little city, where you walk down the street and greet people by their first names. Coming from numerous other big named retailers, and graduating from The University of Arizona with a Retailing and Consumer Sciences Degree, owning her own store had been on her bucket list! Check Check. Katie and her husband Ryan moved to the Alexandria area in 2016 with their two dogs and now have two little ones also.

Mint Condition stocks an ever-changing inventory of current women’s clothing, handbags, shoes, and jewelry by top designers – all in a fresh boutique atmosphere. Come see why we've been named the DC Metro’s Best Consignment Store by Washingtonian, Northern Virginia, Virginia Living Magazines, and the Washington Post Express and featured in Southern Living Magazine as one of Old Town's best boutiques.
