Gift Giving Made Easy

All right, folks! There’s only a week until Christmas. We’re in the home stretch now. You can do it! And, we can help. Today, I want to share one last gift guide to inspire your gift giving creativity. We know and love our people, but sometimes we need a little help interpreting their likes into gift form. It’s our mission to make your holiday shopping easy and enjoyable. We believe it shouldn’t be a chore and we work hard to bring you the perfect something special for that someone special. This weekend we will have a few extra hours for you on Sunday, (10am to 6pm) and we will be open 10am to 4pm on Christmas Eve. And, hopefully this gift guide will get those creative juices flowing!

Teetotaler

Start with a sturdy mug from Farmhouse Pottery and add Flying Bird Botanical tea with a jar of honey. New to Penny Post this year, Flying Bird Botanical tea is a welcome addition. I’m not going to lie, the first thing that attracted me to this line is the beautiful letterpressed label. Simply stunning! Once you move past that visual feast, you get a wonderful cup of tea. Organic herbs and fair-trade tea and spices combine to make the loveliest start to the day. Add a little bit of honey and you’ve got the perfect gift for your favorite teetotaler!

Silo Mug, $46, and Bee Raw honey, $22, available at Red Barn Mercantile; Flying Bird Botanical tea, $16, available at Penny Post.

Adventurer

Look no further, we have the travel list your adventurer needs. A continent-by-continent listing of all the beaches, restaurants, museums, islands, mountains, and monuments, The Bucket List makes adventure planning easy. Document their travels in Traveler’s Journals. The beautiful leather cover corrals all the pieces you need to organize your life. Add inserts like a daily diary, journal pages, zipper pockets, and sketch paper so they can document their travels for posterity. Finally, every traveler needs something to carry their stuff. We love these new wax canvas dopp kits from Harrisonburg, VA makers Lineage. So handsome and certainly rugged!

The Bucket List, $35, and Lineage dopp kit, $65, available at Red Barn Mercantile; Travelers notebook cover, $60, and inserts, $8.50 to $26, available at Penny Post.

Dog Lover

Alexandria loves their dogs. And, who can blame them?! Unconditional love in furry form is such a joy. If you have a dog lover in your life, then we have a sweet gift for them. First, start with the treats. A little something tasty for your furry friend is a must and something pretty to put them in is a bonus. Tuck in a set of beautiful notecards from Woodstock, VA artist Rachel Canada and you’ve got a thoughtful gift for Fido and friend.

Dog treats, $24, and Fetch treat jar, $40, available at Red Barn Mercantile; Set of 6 notecards, $12, available at Penny Post.

Collector

Every day my husband comes home and takes out everything from his pockets and puts it in the same place. It’s interesting to see the collection that falls from his hands into the tray – keys, receipts, pocket change, work ID, pen, lint, etc. This gift is perfect for those with the same habit. A funny key chain that reflects their sense of humor is a nice personal touch. A gorgeous retractable fountain pen from Pilot is a classy step – or leap – up from the ball point from Staples. Trust me when I say they will thank you for upping their pen game when they pull this beauty out of their pocket at a meeting. And, to tie it all up, give them the tray in which to collect all their treasures. We are big fans of John Derian’s decoupage, and this version does not disappoint. It’s stylish and large enough to fit all the things they like.

Key tag, $10, and Pilot Decimo Vanishing Point fountain pen, $180, available at Penny Post; Things I Like tray, $88, available at Red Barn Mercantile.
