Happy New Year!

What can I say? 2021 was definitely an interesting year. Initially I was going to write an article about New Year’s Eve style. However, with so many peoples’ plans getting canceled and the new variant upending things again, I thought I would take a different approach. I wanted to find out what my employees were up to this year in the event that you need ideas!

Before we had kids, my husband and I would always attend the black-tie New Year’s Eve party at Washington Golf and Country Club with my in-laws. Once we had kiddos, though, we stay home. In the early days it was too difficult to find a babysitter. We’ve gotten so used to being at home that we thoroughly enjoy it and now have traditions with our daughters. Every New Year’s Eve, I buy myself a pair of fancy pajamas and we have a three-course fondue dinner. We start off with a Swiss cheese fondue, then move on to meats and dipping sauces, and then of course finish with chocolate. Shoot me an email if you’d like the recipes!

Lisa: I will be returning home after a week away with family and plan on relaxing at home. You’ll likely find me applying one of Kiskadee’s CBD masks to my feet and lighting an ISO candle (also available at the nest). My husband doesn’t know this yet, but I’m hoping he will make one of my favorite dinners for us, Penne Alla Vodka.

Lindsey: This New Year's Eve, I'll be preparing my New Year's Day meal. We have black eyed peas (to my husband's dismay) and greens for luck to ring in the new year. We'll check out some college football (Roll Tide) and mercifully the games are on fairly early since I'm not sure I can make it until midnight. Even though midnight might be out of reach, we'll still have some champagne to say goodbye to 2021 and toast to the arrival of 2022.

Tracy: Celebrating with friends sharing cheese fondue, salad, wine and delicious chocolate fondue with dippers has been my favorite way to ring in the New Year. Often a game of charades is added in for a few good laughs helping to keep our eyes open until the ball drops. Cheers to 2022!

The ladies of Kiskadee wish you all a happy and healthy 2022!
