Have You Seen These Loafers?

A year or so back, I noticed a few of my very fashionable friends wearing what I thought were the coolest shoes I had ever seen. I mean, they are hard shoes to miss. They were different colored slides with cork bottoms and an oversized gold chain. I was so drawn to them. Then I started seeing them on social media on the feet of some of the best-dressed folks around. They were the perfect juxtaposition of classic and cool, of comfort and fashion. I think part of the popularity was they were launched during the shutdown - so fashion lovers had something they could actually wear and not feel overdressed.

Upon more research, I found out this shoe line was JW Anderson. A designer from Northern Ireland, Jonathan Anderson transformed the Spanish brand Loewe and then started a line of his own that people describe as refined and eccentric. When I read that, it made me like the shoes even more and explained my obsession. They don’t come with an inexpensive price tag; I know some folks are going to think I am nuts. But I just think they are the most amazing shoes ever.

They put a smile on my face, and I just had to have them at The Shoe Hive. I didn’t know if we could get them, but luck intervened, so we are giving it a go. I know they seem difficult to style, but I found tons of photos online where they just looked amazing. And I mean they are the most comfortable shoes you will ever put on your feet.

Look for more styles this summer with open toes and twists. I hope they are here to stay for a long time.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
