Coming to The Hive: Ann Mashburn and Maison Venu

The fall has been jam-packed with events. Literally almost every weekend since the second weekend in September, we have had something going on in our stores, sometimes even more than one event at the same time. I originally thought maybe we’d slow down in November, but that wouldn’t be my nature. We did take the first weekend in November off to take a deep breath. But the second weekend we’re back at it!

When we decided we wanted to host an event for each of our biggest brands we couldn’t leave out Ann Mashburn. We didn’t order much for their holiday delivery so we decided this was the perfect time to host an event.

The second event I could not be more excited to announce. Many of you may know Camille Massie. She has raised three amazing daughters who I have been lucky enough to know. The oldest, Olivia, has started a textile company, Maison Venu. She studied abroad in India in college and headed to NYC after college to start her career. After years of working in the textile industry she decided to forge her own path.

If you want to tear up a little, read her letter about her grandmother’s home. It’s clear to see where her love of beautiful things comes from, a reminder that sometimes “things'' are more than just that: they evoke memories and emotions. You can see this love of beautiful things in her fabrics. I will write more soon, but wanted everyone to mark their calendars. Olivia will have her beautiful collection at The Hive on Thursday, November 9, from 12 pm to 7 pm and on Friday, November 10, from 10 am to 4 pm. It is perfect if you’re in need of some holiday gifts, or are hosting Thanksgiving – and need new linens. This is your event!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
