Annette In Ann Mashburn & Lizzie Fortunato

Everyone who works at the stores has their own unique style, which leads to some of us gravitating to one brand over another. When Annette joined the team, it was pretty clear that she was an Ann Mashburn girl. She hasn’t met a striped button-down she didn’t like or a fit and flare skirt she didn’t like. Her style is just what the brand Ann Masburn stands for, heavy on the classics with a unique point of view and an element of luxury.

Often times when you see Annette, she is wearing something she made. As I have said before, she is a Renaissance woman. There is not much she can’t do. So, when it comes to the construction of clothing, she pays attention. Well, she is very impressed by the quality of the construction and fabrics of Ann Mashburn, and she isn’t impressed very easily. Everything they make is high quality. This is the opposite of fast fashion. They use the same mills, tanneries, and makers as all the high-end brands. When you put on one of their pieces, you can tell. Just like the men’s brand, Sid Mashburn, they are just really good at what they do.

When it came time to feature some of the clothes from the trunk show, of course, we had to ask Annette to model.

And of course, there is a Lizzie Fortunato event this weekend as well. Last year when they came to the store Annette really hit it off with the sisters. Lizzie is the creative and Kathryn is the business side of the brand. They really are the dream team and it shows in how unique their pieces are and how well the company is run. Once again, they are the easiest people to deal with and we have dealt with a lot of companies over the last 20 years. Annette was so taken by how gracious they were with their time and knowledge. She picked their brains and they still respond to her if she has a question about any side of their business. I realized how much I just took it for granted at this point because I am so used to them being so wonderful.

Tomorrow you can meet these wonderful designers and shop an extended selection of spring through Sunday, April 30. I can’t leave out the best part, all Lizzie and Ann is 20 percent off for the weekend.

If you are interested in Made to Order Shirting from Ann Mashburn you can sign up for an appointment or stop in on Friday to shop with Ann or someone from the Ann Mashburn team.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
