Conor of Sid Mashburn Will Help You Pick The Perfect Gift for Him

Since opening the men’s store (Yellow Jacket), the one thing I hear the most is the same thing I hear from customers at the women’s stores. “I don’t know what to wear now that things are more casual.”

Prior to Covid, many of us had two speeds for dressing: either professional or what I would call "Saturday dressing." This is what you wear to watch your kids play sports on the weekend or to run around and hit the farmers' market, and maybe grab coffee. Men’s closets were full of sport coats, dress pants and then joggers and quarter zips with a corporate logo or the mark of where they played their last round of golf. There wasn’t much in the middle. Well, the “in between” is where we tend to live these days. And for some, it’s been hard to get out of the Saturday dressing mode during the week.

I think I speak for many of us when I say it’s time for us to get out of our joggers and into something a little more dressed. We all read the articles during the shutdown about the importance of getting out of your pajamas. If you look good, you feel good and it’s proven it makes us all more productive!

If there’s one brand that can help men out of their dressing rut it’s Sid Mashburn. Based in Atlanta, Sid worked for classic American brands like J. Crew (he designed the barn jacket we all wore in the 90s), Land’s End and Ralph Lauren. His clothes are classic and tailored but not boring. I put them in the "you will get noticed as being well-dressed and put together, but not looking like a try hard" category. I asked our favorite Sid representative Conor Siegle to style some looks prior to coming to our store this month. I even talked Benji into modeling all the looks for me as well, check them out:

To help everyone with holiday shopping for the men in their lives, we invited Conor to visit Yellow Jacket for two days of styling. Of course, men are welcome to stop in and shop for themselves as well. Come by on Thursday, December 14 from 3 to 7pm, or Friday, December 15 from 9 am to 2 pm for expert styling advice. We’ll have cocktails on Thursday, coffee on Friday, and gift wrap is always available. See you soon!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
