Last-Minute Gift Idea: Piume Studio

Being behind on your holiday shopping isn’t something to feel bad about. Despite being a shopkeeper, I am the person that is Googling, “What is the last day to ship UPS or USPS?” That’s why I decided to offer you, dear Stylebook reader, a few last-minute gift-giving ideas.

This week I wanted to feature two new brands at The Shoe Hive and The Hive that I think will help last-minute shoppers.

First up, boots by Piume Studio.

I know this is not a common opinion, but I hate Uggs. I loved them on my kids when they were little because they simplified my life, but on adults–I’ve never been a fan. I get the appeal, especially when it’s cold and you are just running out to walk the dog or take an exercise class. And trust me, I totally understand the Ugg slippers. I even stopped carrying other brands of slippers because I realized we just couldn’t compete. But I’m always looking for a great slip-on boot option that looks better than Uggs. We had Mou for a few years, and I still love the pair I bought, but I wanted something a little sleeker and water-resistant to become a permanent winter fixture on our shelves. I found it at a showroom that features primarily European designers.

Piume Studio was founded in Milan in 2021. They make more than just boots, but boots are their speciality. All the styles are made in Italy, they’re 100 percent Vegan, they have an inner and outer lining made of Japanese Nylon, are padded in high-insulating polyester and have a eva rubber sole. The look of the boots are what drew me to them in addition to the colors, but once I learned about how well they were made I knew we had found our new winter boot line.

I’ve heard that meteorologists believe this winter is going to be a bad one. Even if it isn’t, we all know there will be plenty of cold and sloppy days. These boots are the perfect gift for the person who has everything!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
