Liven Your Fall Wardrobe: September Events at The Hive and Yellow Jacket

I know most people are sad to see summer end. I get it, I also love the slower pace…setting my alarm for a little later…and not having to pack my kids' lunches. However, once my kids' birthdays pass (both in August), I am ready to move into fall.

I hate the heat and have never loved summer clothes – I am a fall girl through and through. Maybe it's my northern roots, maybe my love of cashmere, or perhaps because the stores are soooo slow in August. I miss people and can’t wait to feel the energy present when it’s busy and bustling. And I can’t wait to write posts here on Stylebook about something besides clearance sales!

As August winds down, we are busy preparing for fall events. We always have a packed calendar and this year is no different. We are still working on October, which is going to be big since it is our 20th anniversary, so stay tuned. But first, I wanted to make sure everyone marked their calendars for September, it’s a busy transitional month and we don’t want anyone to miss out.

We are kicking off our Fall Trunk Show series with a jewelry designer who is a very familiar face, Kaylie Dawn, who helped us on the weekends for many years. We were sad when she moved away, but we couldn’t be happier that she started her own line, which includes lots of spectacular necklaces and jewelry, all handmade by Kaylie herself. She will be here for one day  showcasing so many great new styles; she’s also available to create custom orders.

Next up is our big Sid event at Yellow Jacket, and I’m happy to share that Sid Mashburn will be here in person! Stop by for a cocktail to meet Sid and his team. Custom tailoring appointments will be available along with a huge selection of fall apparel from his line.

To round out the month, we are hosting our first-ever Ulla Johnson Trunk Show. It is hard to believe that we have never hosted an event for one of our most popular lines. We already have a great selection for fall and they are going to send us even more great pieces for that weekend.

We hope you will come see us in September. There are so many head-turning new arrivals and we are excited to share them and see you donning them this fall!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
