New Parker Thatch

Just when I thought I had found my favorite Parker Thatch handbag, they introduce a new style that makes me question my loyalty to my current favorite.

First I loved the Mimi. This is my work bag or my travel-on-the-plane bag. Back in my Soul Cycle days I even used it to carry my spin shoes and water bottle. It fits my laptop but has a crossbody strap which helps with my never-ending battle with neck pain. I don’t like a lot of labels or fuss when it comes to a tote. I want it to be classic and sturdy because I am really hard on my bags. That is the Mimi. I have it in canvas and suede and use it all the time and even though I have owned them for years they still look great.

Then came the Lee Crossbody. It is perfect for travel, especially if you are somewhere like New York (where I go a lot) or are walking around a ton. It fits way more than you think, and has the perfect pockets for your phone and glasses so you don’t have to dig through your bag and the strap comes off, so I clip the strap off to use it in the evening. It is a sleek bag, so it works for day with the strap, and night without. You can’t say that about many bags.

Up next, the Cross Your Heart Sling. Totally different bag, totally different look but I loved it. I have never been a sling bag or fanny pack kind of girl. Just not my thing, until now. I love this bag. It is for sure casual, but that is what my life tends to be these days. I spend lots of time on a baseball and softball diamond and this is the best bag. Once again, it fits a ton of stuff. I am talking sunscreen, reading glasses, wallet, sunglasses, snacks, phone, and more. I can pack it in and the nylon version is perfect when you are at a lot of outdoor events. I don’t worry about a little rain or even a little dirt. It just wipes off.

Now they have introduced the Luna, which has won my heart over again and made me question my loyalty. It is more of a lady-like bag, which is a trend in clothing and accessories. You can add a strap and make it a crossbody, it is nylon lined so when you have a spill it is easy to clean and has a classic look that will never go out of style.

So once again, Parker Thatch has designed a perfect bag. If you don’t follow Parker Thatch on Instagram you should, the owner, Irene, has great style. The company is a family affair, her husband runs the business as well. Based out of California, they also make every single bag there. American-made and family owned; it just doesn’t get better than that.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
