Holiday Happenings at The Hive and The Shoe Hive
Not sure if you have heard, but Christmas is right around the corner and the shopping season is short this year. I don’t think there could mathematically be less time between Thanksgiving and Christmas than we have in 2019.In recognition of this short runway, all the different stores and business groups in Alexandria have joined forces to make this holiday shopping season as enjoyable as possible. We have fun activities planned for everyone in Old Town and of course we have a few events on our own calendar as well.First things first. If you want to make sure you get what you want, come fill out a wish list at either store. You let us know what you want and who might be shopping for you these next few weeks, and we will take it from there. This works – and you won’t have to return any unwanted gifts!Okay after you take care of yourself, check out these events to get all the shopping done for your list. 
Frank and Eileen Trunk ShowMonday, November 25 - Sunday, December 1
The Hive is hosting a Frank and Eileen Plaid Trunk Show. Come check out our expanded collection of Frank and Eileen we have for one week only, especially all the great plaids. It’s the perfect gift and the perfect thing to wear all weekend during the holidays.
Plaid FridayFriday, November 29
Plaid Friday, the local retailers’ version of Black Friday, is the day after Thanksgiving, of course. Nobody wants to deal with the madness of big box stores and malls. Instead you can stroll our cobblestone streets and stop in your favorite boutiques and restaurants for different promotions and deals. Parking will be plentiful so it’s a great time to try some new spots as well. At both The Shoe Hive and The Hive we will open at 6am and the entire stores will be 30 percent off, even sale items, for two hours. From 8am – 10am the stores will be 20 percent off, and then it’s 10 percent off the rest of the day.
Plaid PoliceFriday, November 29 & Saturday, November 7
Be sure to add a pop of plaid while you do your holiday shopping and be on the lookout for the Plaid Police! Friday, November 29, 10am - 12pm and Saturday, November 7, 11am - 1pm, the Plaid Police will be handing out prizes to those dressed in their best plaid (kids and dogs included!) Elf PatrolSaturday, November 30 – Saturday, December 21
Get ready for Elf Patrol! The OTBD Elf Patrol will be giving out gift cards to people with shopping bags from any OTBD store on the streets of Old Town every Saturday 11am - 2pm, November 30 through December 21.

Want to take gift wrapping off your list? Stop by the Old Town Boutique District gift wrap station at 114 South Patrick Street. Drop off your packages and then head back to King Street for more shopping or maybe a Christmas cocktail. Click here for times and details.
Small Business SaturdaySaturday, November 30
Old Town Business is hosting the Small Business Saturday Scavenger Hunt. Shop and dine in Old Town and get your map stamped to win a grand prize. There’s no purchase necessary and great promotions and events will be going on all day. The Shoe Hive and The Hive will be 10 percent off all day, you’ll get a gift with purchase, and there will be two great trunk shows. At The Shoe Hive local artist Meg Biram will be in store 12pm - 3pm to showcase her hand-painted limited edition ornaments. At The Hive we will feature Charlottesville artist Sunny Goode’s scarf collection LOVEVOLVE.

The Gift of Fashion is back. We like to call it the Give a Gift Get a Gift promotion. Starting Dec 1 for every $250 you spend you will receive a $50 gift card. Keep the gift card for yourself or give it as a gift, you decide. The card can be redeemed between January 1 - February 29, 2020 and it can be used on sale and regular merchandise.
Men’s NightWednesday, December 18
This is one or our biggest nights of the year. Our Annual Men’s Night. Send your father, brother, boyfriend, husband or whomever might be shopping for you or your loved ones. Make sure you have a wish list filled out and we will do the rest. We’ll have a fire pit going in the courtyard, a keg, and a hot grill. The men can eat a brat, smoke a cigar, or maybe quaff a craft beer or bourbon and leave the shopping and gift-wrapping to us. Most men who come linger long after the shopping is done. They get a good night and you get a great gift!
