How To Style Booties

There are two kinds of people in the world: the first kind are those who like hot weather. I am married to one of those odd creatures - his life goal is to not have to own a coat and he loves running outside in 90-degree weather. I, however, am one of the other people. I want to have a closet full of coats and I only want to run outside when it is in the 60s or below. We often joke that we will miss each other when we retire to different states.I mention all this because besides wanting to own as many coats as possible, I also want to own as many boots and booties and possible. This year the tall bootie has made a comeback, and of course booties still reign supreme. We have flat, heeled, snake, combat and ones with hidden wedges. You name it, if it’s a variation of the bootie, we seem to have it this year. Here is what happens with booties when customers come in to try them on: they love the way they look and feel but they still struggle with how to wear them in their wardrobes. Here is the thing: there is no right or wrong way. The main thing is if they are comfortable, just put them on and don’t worry about it. It is all about feeling good and being comfortable and really, booties are one of the most comfortable footwear options around. To give Stylebook readers a little inspiration we asked the newest Hive team member, Sheila, to show us how to pull off the bootie look. I mean, even though she has three young children and is working, Sheila always makes getting dressed look easy. If she is at the park or on the floor of the store, she knows how to work booties into her wardrobe and this mom-on-the-go would never wear something she couldn’t wear walking down the brick sidewalks of Old Town.
