Inspired Trust as 2024 Comes to a Close and 2025 Begins
As a Capricorn with a birthday approaching, I cherish new beginnings while reflecting on the past year’s lessons and personal growth. 2024 was a whirlwind of change for me—turning 45 was an emotional milestone, coupled with one child starting college, another entering middle school, and one beginning high school. My husband also embarked on a new job. Amid all of this, I committed to stepping out of my comfort zone personally and professionally with Kristin Try Interiors (KTI). We embraced new projects, shared stories in Alexandria Stylebook, expanded our design concepts, collaborated with new contractors, and started working with a freelance project manager and operations support as I transitioned to a full-time workload.
Early in 2024, my daughters and I each chose Little Words Bracelets to serve as personal reminders for the year. My word was “Trust.” It became my mantra—to trust myself and keep moving forward despite constantly feeling outside of my comfort zone as a mother, wife, friend, designer, and all the other roles I play.
Throughout the year, I focused on habits to support my mental and physical well-being to help be more present in all aspects of my life. I incorporated daily walks, Barre3 Strength and Signature classes (a big leap for me as I had avoided group classes for a decade), and prioritized a protein-rich diet. I also worked on minimizing things that didn’t serve me or make me feel good. These small but impactful changes helped me show up better for myself and my loved ones while working toward personal and professional goals.
Reading played a significant role in my journey of growth. A few standout books this year were The Creative Act by Rick Rubin and The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter. For creative inspiration, my favorite design book was Studio Ashby: Home Art Soul. I also made a conscious effort to spend less time online, particularly on Instagram, and instead prioritized personal interactions and activities I genuinely enjoy—a shift that felt deeply rewarding.
The results of my efforts this year may not be outwardly dramatic, and I continue to strive towards my goals. But I’ve come to embrace the process of small, consistent changes. These daily habits encourage creativity, health, and a commitment to grow KTI while being present for those I love. 2025 holds exciting promise—it will mark ten years of KTI! My mission has always been to create homes that are havens for my clients, providing them with comfort, beauty, and a soft place to land during life’s challenges. At the same time, I aim to inspire them to step out of their comfort zones, starting with our collaborative design process, and empower them to embrace their lives boldly and confidently.
That trust—both in me and in themselves—is something I deeply value. As I reflect on 2024, I’m filled with gratitude for the trust my clients place in me and the trust I’ve learned to cultivate in myself. Here’s to stepping out of comfort zones and finding strength in trust as we move into 2025. Cheers to a year of growth, inspiration, and bold living!
