It’s Party Time!
It’s been so fun to hear about all of the parties and celebrations that people are going to this year. There seem to be quite a few fall and winter weddings this year. I’ve heard of everything from a Sunday morning at the club to a Thursday evening in the Bahamas. It’s been a very interesting mix. And the parties! People are actually going to parties this year.
I’ve talked about the lead time in fashion before. The pandemic has definitely heightened it and changed it a bit too. Retailers place orders for fall and holiday deliveries as early as February and March. This year was not much different. There was a bit of a delay for designers getting their samples produced (if they were produced at all.) When I was doing all of our buying for deliveries in October through December, I had to do it in the March and April timeframe. This is always hard, but even more so in a pandemic. Will people be going to parties? Will they be going to weddings? Will we be shut down again? I decided to take a chance and order a decent amount of festive party clothes hoping that celebrations would be happening again. I had to do this because designers aren’t doing over-cuts. So, I had to order, or else I wouldn’t get anything. I’m glad I took that chance because, wow! I can’t believe how fast some of these style are selling.
We do have some beautiful pieces still. We just got in a shipment from Sanctuary that was a bit delayed. Yes. It was stuck on a cargo ship. I love a traditional red plaid during the holidays. These pants are festive without being over the top. All you need is a black or red sweater, and that’s your casual party outfit. This sparkly top is gorgeous in person. With the long sleeves and a mock neck, it’s a great piece if you run cold (like I do.)
Julie Brown always makes a beautiful party piece. I love this cute little cardigan with a faux fur collar. It’s removable too! This is a good style for a variety of functions, making it versatile. With the removable collar, it can be an everyday item as well. This red party dress makes me happy! It’s just the right amount of festive and can also be the perfect Valentine’s date dress.
Another one of my favorite lines is Sofia. It’s all made in Italy, and most of it is one size. A lot of people shy away from that, but it works! It really does. We just got the shipment in, and although we’ve sold out of two of the tops, we still have these two styles, and they are perfect for that party. I love this gold top. Pair with dark denim for a more casual look or with black pants for a more dressed-up look. This teal dress is also a favorite of mine. Us shorter ladies can wear it alone, but personally, I’d pair it with some black tights.
Have fun at all those parties and weddings!
