Kevyn Aucoin Glass Glow Face and Body Illuminator…I Get it Now

Every now and again, a product comes in from a line that I’m just not into. I look at it and I think, “Why?” I don’t get it. This is what happened with the Kevyn Aucoin Glass Glow Illuminator. I picked up one of the shades, put a bit on my hand and tapped it onto my cheek bones as I would any highlighter. It felt a bit tacky and throughout the day, my hair got caught in it. It felt like I had applied lip gloss to my cheeks. Yuck. No thank you.Even after my makeup artists kept insisting it was amazing, I just didn’t get it. Fast forward a year and Kevyn Aucoin announced they were introducing another three shades in the Glass Glow line due to its popularity. I immediately thought…I must be missing something.I decided to watch a bunch of reviews online. Some of the reviews felt just like me. But the ones that raved about the product had one thing in common, they were using a much smaller amount of product and they were applying it as a primer before they put on their foundation or they mixed it with their foundation. For those using it on their body, they used a much smaller amount of product and some mixed it with their body lotion.  I decided to put it to the test. I took home one of the new shade extensions - Pixie Dream. After applying all my skincare and sunscreen, I applied a dot of the Glass Glow Face in Pixie Dream on each cheek, my chin, my forehead, and my nose. I then blended it to my skin. It felt a bit tacky. I was unsure. I then applied a bit of Kevyn Aucoin’s new Stripped Nude Skin Tint on each area. I pounced it into my skin with my Beauty Blender and added a bit more where needed to build it up and cover redness on my cheeks. Instantly, I knew this was it. The glow that came through the skin tint, made my skin look like glass. It was glowing, literally like glass. Not metallic. Not glittery. Just glowing. It was gorgeous, and I couldn’t wait to try it under my other favorite product, the Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation. I went to work and all day I got compliments on my skin. The next day I thought I’d try another shade. This time I went with Prism Rose. This shade had a deeper, rosier hue. The overall effect was more subtle, but still absolutely gorgeous. I thought I’d try to pat it on over the skin tint for a more dramatic effect. I didn’t want it to feel sticky though. I put a small dot on each cheek bone and blended it in with a damp Beauty Blender. This really helped it sink into my skin and it didn’t feel sticky.Again, I received numerous compliments on my skin. I think I’ve found a new holy grail product. I get it now. And now that I do… I don’t ever want to be without it.
