About the time I opened The Hive in Alexandria, the Sid & Ann Mashburn store arrived in Georgetown. I often heard about how wonderful it was and when I went online to learn more about it, well, truth be told, I was totally jealous. Their store was gorgeous and had such a great selection of clothing, but what really struck me was their signature line of clothing. To me, it hit that perfect style fusion of tomboy chic, paired down preppy, and casually elegant.Not only did it look like the clothes I loved to wear, I could tell they were perfectly made - high-quality fabrics (from Italy, of course) and tailoring that was superb, which makes sense. When I learned more about Sid & Ann Mashburn, I found out this husband and wife duo have more than 50 years of experience in the fashion world, both on the design side and the editorial side.Their taste is exquisite, and they care most about quality and fit. This is not fast fashion; it’s quality clothing that fits right, and you will have it in your closet for a long time.Luckily for me, we are one of 15 stores in the entire country launching their wholesale collection. I will admit, it might be because my former rep at Veronica Beard went to work there (and luckily for me, she liked me), but no matter the reason, I will take it. When she called me last February and asked me to see the line in NYC, I was beaming with joy.Here is the more exciting news: we are launching this great collection with an event with Ann Mashburn and Liz in the store, Thursday, September 10! That is right - live in person.We will be hosting a trunk show from Thursday, September 10 - Sunday, September 13. Look for a post next week on the great selection that will be available. For now, I want to talk about what will be available only on Thursday while Ann and Liz are in town: made to order shirting (and one dress).That is right, since they are all about the perfect fit and the perfect fabric, especially when it comes to shirting, you can make an appointment to order your custom shirt. You pick the fabric and the style and within four to six weeks, it will arrive.There are six shirt silhouettes and one dress available in sizes XS to XL to choose from. Did I mention we are doing 20 percent off all weekend? Which is pretty amazing because her custom shirting never goes on sale.In order to make sure it is a safe shopping experience and we are there to help, we are making 30-minute appointments. Of course, you can just stop in and shop on Thursday (we do have to keep up with capacity guidelines), but if you are interested in custom, we want to make sure you get undivided attention from one of us!
