Make-Up Setting Spray - Your Secret Weapon
You've just spent time perfecting your look. Now it's time to set and seal your makeup to keep it looking fresh and on point throughout the day. That's where the setting spray comes into play!
In addition to a primer, whether it's for foundation or eyeshadow, a setting spray or setting mist is key to locking in makeup and helping keep everything from melting away. Super handy, especially in the middle of summer. I never finish a client without a final spritz!
There are several different types of setting sprays available. Choose one that suits your skin type with the finish that you like. If you have oily skin, choose an oil-free matte finishing spray to keep shine at bay. If you have dry skin, opt for an alcohol-free hydrating mist with hyaluronic acid and hydrating ingredients. Combination skin can choose different ones that fit all skin types. Consider choosing one with sun protection and select one with an SPF. The final finish is also up to you. Do you want to look matte, dew,y or glowy? There's a spray that's perfect for each.
Did you know that there are alternative ways to use your setting spray?
Other than using it as a final step to your makeup routine, the setting spray can be used while applying makeup. Here are some additional ways makeup artists use a setting spray.
*Spritz lightly over the face as a secondary primer before makeup.
*After dabbing the brush into powder eyeshadow, lightly spray the brush, then apply shadow onto lids. Not only will this help with staying power, but it will also amplify the shadow colors for a more dramatic look. You can also use this technique when lining your eyes or filling in eyebrows. If you prefer to dampen the brush first, make sure not to soak the brush or products. Application may end up looking either too sheer or too heavy, and shadows can get damaged.
*Spray onto your beauty blender or foundation sponge instead of water prior to application to help lock in your foundation.
*Lightly mist after your first layer of foundation. Let it air dry, then apply a second layer of foundation for long-lasting flawless coverage.
*Use the spray on beauty blender or makeup sponge to help blend cream products such as cream blush and cream highlighters.
*Spray lightly on concealer brush, then blend with concealer to prevent from creasing.
*Spray or mist six to eight inches away from the face in T shape then an X shape. Let it air dry naturally.
You're all set!
