Paint Trends: A Fresh Coat for Your Home

Ask any of the Marks-Woods designers and they will tell you how the world of interior design is constantly evolving. It can seem overwhelming (not to mention expensive and time-consuming) to not only be aware of the latest trends, but also execute them in your home. So when I asked our designers how Stylebook readers can keep their home current without breaking the bank, one of the first things they recommended was to refresh a space with a new coat of paint. Here’s some of the paint trends and colors they are loving right now:

Paint Drenching: A Jewel Box for Your Room

One of the most striking trends emerging is paint drenching. This involves painting the entire room – walls, trim, ceiling, and even interior doors – in the same color. It's a bold move that can dramatically transform a space. The result is a cohesive, enveloping look that can make even the smallest room feel larger and more luxurious. Imagine your room as a precious jewel box – the paint color is the setting that enhances the brilliance of the space.

Color Coordination with Wallpaper

Our designers love wallpaper and recommend when incorporating wallpaper into your design scheme to use a color from the paper to paint your trim and ceiling. This creates a polished, high-end look that ties the room together. It's a subtle yet impactful way to elevate your space.  Plus, paint is more cost effective than wallpaper. So, if you really love the look of wallpaper, pulling a color from the paper and offsetting less wallpaper with the right paint will pull the room together without breaking the bank.

Color Palette Trends

Our design team is also excited about some specific color trends that are taking center stage.

  • Deep and Intimate: Rich, deep hues like plum, wine, and earthy tones are perfect for creating cozy and inviting atmospheres. Consider using these colors in bedrooms, living rooms, parlors, or even home bars. Benjamin Moore's Vintage Wine and Backdrop's Lobby Scene are stunning options.

  • Timeless Blues: Blue is a classic color that continues to be popular. However, we're seeing a shift towards softer, powder blues that feel fresh and modern. These versatile hues can be paired with a variety of accent colors, making them a great choice for any room. Farrow & Ball's Sardine and Selvedge, as well as Benjamin Moore's Santorini Blue and Denim Wash, offer beautiful options.

  • Cabinetry Colors: We're also loving the use of bold colors on cabinetry. Farrow & Ball's Brinjal and Benjamin Moore's Wild Blue Yonder are two standout choices that can add a dramatic touch to your kitchen or bathroom.

These paint trends offer a wealth of inspiration for your next home makeover. Whether you're looking to create a bold statement or a subtle refresh, there's a paint color and technique to suit your style.
