Quick Home Refresh, Without A Renovation

Spring is the perfect time for a refresh. Maybe that’s cleaning and organizing your home, trying new hair and makeup trends or simply getting out to a local restaurant. As you enjoy all the new things, maybe you have also thought about how to refresh your home with a quick makeover? If a full renovation isn’t in the cards for you right now, there are still ways you can refresh your home this spring.

I spoke to our interior designer Michaela Sedlak about what she would recommend for a quick, inexpensive, and impactful way to refresh a home. Her response: refresh your powder room!

Simply follow these easy steps to bring spring florals into your powder room in no time at all! And, if you need inspiration, here’s Michaela’s design pick:

Wallpaper: Hydrangea Garden Wallpaper from Milton & King is perfect for a powder room spring refresh with its beautiful Hydrangea pattern and pink and green colorway, which are two colors we will be seeing a lot this spring and summer.

Paint: Prescott Green or Peale Green by Sherwin Williams. I love coordinating the trim, ceiling, and yes, the interior side of the door of a powder room, this is a great way to make your wallpaper feel updated and like a box of jewels beaming with color. Prescott green is a great coordinating color if you want to keep things light and fresh and Peale Green is perfect for a moody more saturated look.

Hardware: Standard Cup Pull by deVOL is a great spring-forward update for any hardware needs. I love the Bella Brass finish as it feels very natural yet elegant and will age beautifully with its unlacquered finish.

Lighting: Sconces in a powder room are not only visually important but mood lighting is key in creating a stylized space. The Hudson Valley Heirloom Sconce is a really fun take on a vintage style. The scallop detail is great for a room with floral patterns and the all-brass finish makes it pop off any wall furnishings.

Faucet: Faucets are an easy and effective refresh to any bathroom. I pulled the Newport Brass Jacobean in aged brass to complete this look. The elegant style and fun handles make this fixture pop off your vanity and it's an exciting fixture for you and your guests to admire.

Go ahead and give it a try! Find a design moment that speaks to you and build out the other pieces from there. We’d love to see your finished looks – tag us @mwconstruction.
