Embrace Luck, Renewal, Strength, and Fortune this Lunar New Year

2025 is off and running which means Lunar New Year, one of the world’s most important cultural holidays, is right around the corner. It’s a time for family gatherings, feasting, and celebrating the new year according to the lunisolar calendar. Every Lunar New Year is uniquely special as it aligns with one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac and 2025 is the Year of the Snake. In Chinese astrology, the Year of the Snake symbolizes transformation, renewal, and spiritual growth. The snake sheds its skin representing letting go of the past and embracing the new.

While Lunar New Year officially kicks off January 29, MGM National Harbor is starting its Year of the Snake celebration early with a dedicated Conservatory display, authentic specialty menus, and festive lion and dragon dances. The premier destination is one of the only places in the area where visitors can experience authentic holiday feasts, traditional performances, and larger-than-life activations such as:

  • Cobra-Themed Conservatory. Inspired by the Year of the Snake, MGM National Harbor’s new Conservatory display features a stunning 28-foot-long-snake, a towering 30-foot bonsai tree, 25-foot-tall golden bamboo forest, a money tree adorned with 260 oversized gold coins, two jade rock fountains, and more. Guests can enjoy the display for free now through March 30.

  • Festive Lion Dance. Lion Dances are a traditional celebration for Lunar New Year bringing prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year. MGM National Harbor will host a special lion and dragon dance on Sunday, January 26 at 6 pm. that will begin in the Casino Valet and continue throughout the property.
