Moss Bowl Design: A Simple Way to Elevate Your Home Aesthetic
There are certain designs that become instant classics in our studio at Helen Olivia, and our permanent moss bowls are no exception. Their story began years ago when we were the in-house florist for Four Seasons Georgetown. The general manager at the time was a true lover of all things floral, constantly flitting through the hotel in search of ways to introduce more living beauty into the space. One day, he approached us with a challenge: create a permanent table display for the events level—something textural, organic, and mossy. And, most importantly, something that would last.
Our first prototype of the permanent moss bowl was born soon after.
Of course, once we made one successfully for the hotel, I had to create one for my home. That quickly led to requests from my mom and all of my friends (and her friends, too), each eager for something low maintenance and pretty to spruce up their dining tables and coffee tables.
Recently, at the request of a dear friend, we hosted our first-ever moss bowl workshop in the studio, and it was a smash hit. And, surprisingly, we finished class with only one hot glue burn. I have a feeling it will be the first of many workshops of its kind.
