The Hive's Current Must-have Accessory

Sometimes I am late to a trend. Even though I go to market and can see when something is going to be huge, I don’t always “get it” -- meaning it just doesn’t resonate with me and so I don’t place an order. Two strikes.

Nothing could be truer than with the headband trend that has literally been taking over the accessory world. Yes, we have always had some headbands - typically the smaller plastic or metal variety or maybe the sportier elastic type. But a few years back one of our jewelry lines, Lele Sadoughi, introduced headbands covered in fabric with a knot at the top. I can’t say with 100 percent certainty, but I am 95 percent sure she is the designer who deserves the credit for starting this now-ubiquitous trend. Thank goodness you get 3 strikes because despite being late to the game, I did finally catch on and they’ve been quite popular at The Hive.

Hair accessories, in general, are really having a moment. We’ve seen the return of the scrunchies, barrettes and hair ties. But headbands, the headband craze is well, crazy. The Lele version, in my opinion, is the best. She uses beautiful fabrics, even leather, and has pearl and other details that can’t be matched by other varieties. I feel like the originator of a trend usually does it best or is always on the mark.

We can’t seem to keep them in stock and each season there are new varieties and styles.
