My Easy Makeup Routine
If you know me or read Alexandria Stylebook, you know that when it comes to makeup, I just don't wear it much. As I have mentioned before, this isn't for lack of need; it is that I am dreadful at applying it. Usually, when I try to apply it, I think it does more harm than good. Especially as I age, it can get tricky. When I am lucky enough to have my makeup done professionally or stop in Bellacara to try out some new products, I always think, dang, I look so much better when I have on some makeup.
There is one makeup line that I actually feel comfortable applying; I call it "makeup for dummies," but the real name is Westman Atelier.
It's kind of ironic that a celebrity makeup line is the one I find easier to use. But the more I learn about Gucci Westman, the more it makes sense. I also stalk her on Instagram, and I relate to her style (maybe aspire is a better word than relate) because her look is always edited and simple. Did I mention that her products are all clean as well? Using as many natural products as possible has also become more important to me over the years, especially when it comes to skin.
Okay, so here is what I use from the line. I own more products like the eye shadow pods, highlighter, lip suede, and powder that I have yet to incorporate into my routine. Once again, I aspire to do so, but I have to take baby steps.
Below is my routine if I am going to work or out to dinner. Otherwise, if you see me walking my dogs or running errands, I probably don't have anything on, especially when it is hot out, so don't blame Gucci for how I look on those days.
Vital Skin. I start with the foundation stick. I have a few colors since I tend to be outside and get a lot of color on my face so what I use in the warmer months is different than in the wintertime. I literally just put a few lines on my forehead, cheeks, and chin and blend.
Blender Brush. The key to the blending is this brush. It is the only brush I think I have ever replaced because I use it so much. It really is the makeup for dummies tool you need. If I only owned two items, it would be this brush and the stick.
Baby Cheeks. I have a few colors of this product, and I always dab just a little on my cheeks. I don't use a brush, just my fingers to blend. I have found blush sticks easier to use than powder. I tend to get too much powder and end up washing it off, so this helps me control how much I put on.
Beauty Butter. Okay, so I don't always use this bronzer, but when I am going for it, I do - more in the winter for me than summer when I tend to have more sun on my face than I should. But it is just the right amount, and once again, I don't struggle with it like I have other bronzers, where I feel like it doesn't blend well.
Powder Brush. This is probably why I feel like I can put on the bronzer correctly; they have the best brushes. I always make sure I tap any excess off before I start.
Eye Love You. I tint my lashes, but most days, I also try to add some mascara, so they are fuller. I struggle with most mascara smudging, but this stays put and doesn't clump when I put it on.
Bonne Brow. This is the latest edition to my routine. I love a strong brow. I wish I had fuller ones, it is something I dream of, but I actually have blonde-barely-there brows. I tint them as well, but I try and fill in. I love this product because it goes on smoothly, has an angled tip, and then there is a brush on the end to help even it all out. I think brows can be intimidating, but this makes it so much easier.
So if you are like me, and makeup doesn't come easy, I encourage you to try this line. If I can use it, anyone can, and the folks at Bellacara will make sure you get the perfect colors and have the best tips on how to apply.
